Residents living north of Corpus Christi in the Portland/Gregory communities are in the process of drying out following a 15-inch rainfall on April 16. Replacement Costs Battle on the Road to Somewhere
Steve Young was somewhat upbeat when he was asked what he thought about the outcome of a long-brewing legal battle between three insurance associations and the California Department of Insurance. That upbeat attitude is because a court of appeals accepted his association’s amicus brief this week. That may sound a bit trivial, but Young sees it as a signal there’s at least a slight chance the group will have its day in court sooner rather than later.

Virginia Officials Urge Earthquake Insurance Check
State officials are reminding homeowners to review their insurance policies to see if they have earthquake insurance ahead of a new law that will require better disclosure if policies exclude such coverage. The State Corporation Commission’s Bureau of Insurance says damage from earthquakes is excluded under homeowners policies unless the coverage is purchased as an addition to the policy. A law recently passed by the General Assembly requires companies that exclude coverage for earthquakes to provide a written notice that conspicuously states that it must be purchased separately
